Elon University’s Student Union Board (SUB) formally announced rapper Lupe Fiasco and DJ Girl Talk as its 2009 spring concert performers in a special event held at the Lighthouse on Wednesday, February 11th. The announcement ends student speculation of the previously secret performer’s identity.

SUB also announced that the first 200 ticket buyers would earn the priviledge of joining Lupe Fiasco on stage for his final song. The promotion is the first of its kind at Elon University.
Tickets for students go on sale on Thursday, February 12, for $20 online at http://org.elon.edu/sub/ or in Moseley Student Center. Tickets for the general public go on sale February 23 and are $27.
Lupe Fiasco is a Grammy Award winning hip hop artist from Chicago. His most recent album, 2007′s “Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool,” was critically acclaimed and peaked at number 14 on Billboard’s Top 200. His next CD, to be called “Lupe Fiasco’s Great American Rap Album,” is due out sometime in 2009.
Girl Talk is the stage name of DJ Gregg Gillis who specializes in mashup style remixes, often mixing the music and lyrics of many different songs together in a single track. In 2008 Gillis released his second album, titled “Feed the Animals.” The album was composed entirely of samples taken from 322 different songs.
Previous Elon University spring concert performers have included Sister Hazel and Jack’s Mannequin.
